Apps We Love

1. BookedOut

Let’s face it. Keeping up with employee availability can be a daunting task for even the most meticulous scheduler. You can spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to keep up with schedules through spreadsheets, messaging, and free scheduling apps but there’s really no other app that takes the cake.

Street Teams flourish on flexibility and the ability to staff large campaigns in a short amount of time. You can have 10 apps that can serve multiple functions, or you can get the job done in one simple platform.

Our favorite feature of BookedOut is the ability to automate the scheduling process. Staff have the flexibility to update their schedules on the fly and once you input your staffing needs, BookedOut’s algorithm schedules the staff who are available.

2. Google Maps

Navigate NYC like a local and utilize one of the most popular apps on the market. It’s a no -brainer that your street team can use Google Maps to navigate the city, but take the power of Google one step further by searching local hotels to find bathrooms or to find quick bites to eat during their shift.

Bonus Tip: Helping tourists with directions can leave a great impression to any new customers seeing your brand for the first time.

3. Notes App/Google Forms
As you spend your shift talking to hundreds of people, it’s best practice to record some of those meaningful interactions for future use. Street Team Marketing is one of the only platforms in which you can get unfiltered data of people interacting with your brand and that data is meaningful to marketing, design, and business executives. Store all your meaningful interactions in the notes app for later use.

4. Portable Charger

From using our recommended apps to keeping in touch with your team, you’re going to need your phone available at all times. Bringing a portable charger will be a life saver for long days. Still, make sure your phone is fully charged at the beginning of your shift. Here’s one of our favorites which also happens to be an Amazon best seller.

5. Ziplock Bag

The best way to ensure your flyers stay dry and in perfect condition is to store them in a water tight ziplock bag. No one wants to grab a soaking wet flyer and better yet a flyer that is incapable of being read because the ink has smeared. Store a few ziplock bags in your backpack for easy access should the rain appear out of nowhere.

6. Digital Camera

To collect content of your team in action on the street, make sure somebody has a camera and is taking photos throughout the day. These photos can be used on your website, social media, or any marketing materials such as flyers or brochures.

7. Hat

Wearing a hat will protect your hair, face, and eyes from the sun or harsh weather conditions during long days outside. During the warmer months, a standard baseball cap will do the trick, but winter weather will require something warmer such as a Carhartt beanie. Your company can also make hats with your logo to boost brand awareness. Custom Ink and Cap Beast have some great options.

8. Sun Protection

During long days on the street, especially in the Summer, protection from the sun is extremely important. Along with a hat, come prepared with sunglasses, chapstick, and most importantly, sunscreen. Make sure you’re staying hydrated with a large water bottle. Hydroflask and Yeti make huge bottles that keep your water cold all day.

9. Umbrella

While working long days outdoors, the weather can often be unpredictable. Packing an umbrella, despite the forecast, is always a good choice to stay prepared. Make sure your umbrella is large enough to cover both yourself and the person you’re talking to.

10. Tote/Backpack

From marketing materials to the personal equipment, you’re going to need a sturdy bag to transport and store everything. Pack all of your needed technology, weather resistant clothing, water, and materials for your campaign. Patagonia, North Face, and Thule all have great, sturdy backpack options. If a tote bag suits your style more, we recommend checking out the options at Strand Book Store in NYC.
